Privacy Policy
Maiitrika — a quiet place for children to meet Hindi and English letters.
Effective 30 August 2026
Maiitrika collects no data about you or your child. There are no accounts, no analytics, no advertising, no tracking, and no third-party services of any kind. The app makes no network requests — it works entirely offline, and there is no server for your information to be sent to. This is true of the optional voice recording described below: recordings are made on the device, stay on the device, and are never transmitted anywhere.
What is stored, and where
Maiitrika saves two things, and both stay on the device:
- Which cards have been opened, so a track can reopen where it was left rather than starting over.
- Whether sound is muted, so the setting survives a restart.
This is stored using the operating system's standard local storage for app preferences. It never leaves the device, it is not backed by any account, and it contains no names, no identifiers, and nothing about who is using the app. Deleting Maiitrika removes it completely.
Reading letters aloud
When a letter or word is touched, Maiitrika says it aloud using speech synthesis that runs entirely on the device. No text is sent anywhere.
Recording in your own voice
A grown-up may choose to record letters and words in their own voice, so a child hears someone familiar instead of the synthesised voice. This is entirely optional. The app never asks for the microphone unless you tap to record, and it works completely without it.
If you do record:
- The audio is saved as ordinary files inside Maiitrika's own private storage on this device.
- It is never uploaded, never sent to any server, never shared with anyone, and never used for anything except playing that letter back inside this app.
- No transcript, copy, identifier, or analysis of the recording is made or kept.
- You can delete any recording from inside the app, and deleting Maiitrika removes all of them at once.
Because the audio never leaves the device, it is not collected under Apple's App Privacy definitions, the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), the GDPR, or India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act. The recordings are meant to be made by an adult, of an adult's voice.
Children's privacy
Maiitrika is made for children, and is designed so that there is nothing to collect. It gathers no personal information from anyone, including children under 13, and so collects none under the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), the GDPR, or comparable laws elsewhere.
There is no advertising of any kind, no behavioural or contextual targeting, no in-app purchases, no social features, no user-generated content, and no links out of the app.
Permissions
Maiitrika requests one permission, and only if you ask it to: the microphone, used solely for the optional recording described above. The app is fully usable if you never grant it. It has no access to the camera, contacts, photos, location, or health data.
Changes
If this policy ever changes, the revised version will be posted on this page with a new effective date. Should Maiitrika ever begin collecting anything at all, that change would be described here before it ships.
